Two cheers for parking and quiet deliveries

Published to the CV Show website on

The good news this week is that government has acted to improve the state of truck parking in the UK, with full service truck stops to be allowed on the motorway network. While that won't do much to improve the lot of drivers on A and B roads - or of residents tired of CVs parking in their streets in urban areas - it is a step in the right direction.
Also good news is the confirmation that quiet night-time deliveries can be made to work if operators and residents talk to each other. Most residents' concerns about noise and nuisance can be addressed with the right approach, and next year's London Olympics will be a vital test of the industry's ability to deliver out-of-hours without annoying local residents.
