Transit Product Manager enters ‘Hall of Fame’

04 January 2017

The man behind the UK’s best-selling van ended 2016 on a high after being inducted to the What Van? Hall of Fame.

Ford of Britain’s Transit Product Manager, Dave Petts, was praised for his extensive product knowledge, as well as his insights into the industry as a whole.

Steve Banner, Contributing Editor at What Van?, said, “He is without a doubt the go-to guy for anybody in search of advice on anything that is Transit-related or anything that relates to the light commercial business.”

“It is testimony to his vast knowledge that countries as diverse as Australia and Russia contact him for help.”

Having spent the past 11 years in the role, Dave has been instrumental in Transit’s success in Britain, launching the latest models and maintaining its sales leadership – a position the van has held for over 50 years.

Dave’s role has seen the roll-out of a four-vehicle Transit line-up including Courier, Connect, Custom and the Transit itself, overseeing product strategy, pricing and options deployment.

On receiving the award, Dave said, “I am delighted to receive this honour. It has been a real pleasure working with such an icon for many years throughout my career at Ford. I have always made an effort to keep in close contact with our customers, which I believe has played a key part in keeping Transit number one. To be recognised for this is a real bonus!”
