The drums are rolling for CV Show 2024

We’re just over a month away from the Commercial Vehicle Show in Birmingham, providing an opportunity for the sector to showcase its latest technology to vehicle operators, industry stakeholders and government representatives. With a focus on the road to zero, the CV Show has formed new partnerships this year and those paying close attention to the floorplan will have noticed a new Destination Net Zero area, showcasing some of the latest zero emission trucks and heavy vehicles – along with the EV Café Pavilion for zero emission light commercial vehicles.

A major addition this year is the three-day Road Ahead Seminar programme in a 200-seat theatre –  with essential sessions providing vehicle operators with essential tips on how to take the first steps towards their own zero emission fleet, be it with heavy or light commercial vehicles. Complementing the vast volume of technology on show in the halls, sessions will also pick up key themes such as safety technology, AI, telematics and driver wellbeing. We’ll also be joined by Richard Turfitt, Senior Traffic Commissioner for Great Britain and Richard Hennessy, Director of Operations at the DVSA to give a regulatory and legal perspective.

Green skills and guaranteeing a diverse, healthy workforce are crucial for operators in attracting and retaining talent, and this will be covered on Day 2 of the show, while Day 3 looks ahead to the future of our people – covering how the sector can attract top talent from the coming-of-age Generation Z, be it through apprenticeships and more innovative approaches. That’s relevant to businesses large and small, and it was timely this week that the Prime Minister set out a new package of reforms. These aim to support SMEs in delivering more apprenticeship places and making the Apprenticeship Levy more flexible, while and there will also be a new taskforce to leverage private investment in female-led start-ups – three measures the CV sector stands to benefit from, if businesses take the opportunity.

And of course, all this in on top of what makes the CV Show the best attended event for the sector – the chance to get a closer look at the vehicles and the services that support them, from body builders, telematics, workshop equipment and emission controls to finance, locks and security – all under one roof. To book your free place, click here, and we’ll see you at the NEC Birmingham from 23-25 April.
