Andrew Donald
Andrew Donald, Enforcement Policy Manager for the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA), has over 35 years of experience and gained a wide ranging working knowledge in the commercial vehicle industry.
With a career starting as an apprentice HGV technician in an independent dealership, he has seen many technical changes, the practical challenges of running a modern fleet, led in enforcement and investigation requirements and the training of a new generation of professionals for the future leading to his current role as DVSA Enforcement Policy Manager. Significant successes included the introduction of virtual reality software to DVSA allowing colleagues to experience real-life scenarios without the associated risks and roll-out of training for maintenance investigations.
Currently, he is responsible for roadworthiness policies and procedures along with various DVSA publications including the Guide to Maintaining Roadworthiness and Categorisation of Defects.
With a dedication to policy development, enforcement, service excellence, and road safety, Andrew is committed to working with industry representatives improving road safety standards and legal obligations.
