Renault Trucks has announced that from 2023 it will offer a fully electric option that covers all segments. From around 2025 onwards, the company will also offer a range of hydrogen fuel cell trucks for heavy-duty and long-haul operations. It has committed to becoming a carbon-neutral range within 30 years and has set up a dedicated electric mobility organisation to help achieve this.
Renault Trucks’ ambition is to extend the suitability of its existing range – from 3.1 to 26 tonnes – beyond its current urban transport, delivery, distribution and waste collection applications to cover all segments by 2023..
Bruno Bin, Renault Trucks president, said, “Electric mobility is the pillar of our strategy and we aim to lead the field. We are aiming for 35% of our sales to be electric in 2030. By 2040, all our vehicle ranges will be 100% fossil-free.”
According to Renault Trucks, it aims to achieve these ambitions through strategic partnerships, strengthening its ties with Volvo Group and with the support of a new R&D centre in Lyon. The X-Tech Arena will be ready by the start of 2023 and is receiving a €33 million investment.
