Quick-change couplings

Published to the CV Show website on

Truck and trailer air line coupling accessory maker Illston and Robson has developed a quick-change system for Susie-equipped air lines.  It calls this "Bessie" and it means that a driver can easily remove and replace a broken air line between a tractor unit and trailer without the need to wait for a specialist fitter.  Bessie is a joint venture between Illston and Robson and inventor Colin Morris.  The aim is to cut downtime in the event or air line failures.  The firm says these are a big cause of breakdowns, with consequential costs often nearly £1,000.  Variants can be used with Palm couplings or with drawbar trailers where air lines need to be removed to prevent theft or damage.
