MAN Truck & Bus wins £53m MoD deal

30 October 2018

The Ministry of Defence has signed a £53 million deal with MAN Truck & Bus UK for the modernisation of its logistics fleet.

Delivering a new pallet and container loading system, MAN will supply and integrate almost 400 retrofit kits for the enhanced pallet loading system (EPLS) on the MoD’s HX trucks – originally supplied by MAN in a previous contract between 2005 and 2013. Growing demand for container transport led to the project to retrofit the flatbed vehicles with a hooklifting system.

MAN’s partner Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles Austria (RMMV) will provide the technical solution and the loading system, which MAN will then install on the vehicles, due for completion by the end of January 2021.

MAN also supplies the MoD with 8×8 ‘Boxer’ off-road vehicles and supplies powertrain components for the Challenger series of tanks.
