Klarius Europe's largest automotive aftermarket parts group invests €5million in new Spanish warehouse and logistics centre

Published to the CV Show website on

European car parts factors and distributors are set to benefit greatly from the latest investment by the Klarius Group; providing jobs and immediate access to over 100,000 product types available directly from a purpose-built stock warehouse and logistics facility located in Coslada, Madrid.

Having already invested in its major Spanish production site, Lipmesa in Bilbao, which manufactures shock absorber and suspension components for car manufacturers and the automotive aftermarket, Klarius has announced a substantial €5million investment in a state-of-the-art stock holding and distribution centre in the country's Capital. The new facility will distribute a vast range of quality auto spares manufactured both in our Group owned plants and by other group manufacturing partners and provide a substantial platform from which to deliver a high level of service to both existing and future customers.

The Klarius Group is acknowledged currently as the fastest growing automotive parts manufacturing and distribution business in the world. Having purchased the famous Quinton Hazell (QH) business over a year ago, the dynamic management team has set about improving manufacturing efficiency, quality and product availability using the latest lean manufacturing, logistics and business management techniques.

The policy of investment in manufacturing with lean logistics and superior customer service has seen the group revolutionise the market in Europe, allowing its customers and in-turn their own customers to benefit from hundreds of new products and levels of service and delivery that have not been achieved before in this sector.

By offering an unrivalled portfolio of over 100,000 products; from vehicle electrics, to exhaust systems, suspension components, belts, engine components and accessories the Klarius Group, including the QH brand, offers the widest range of OE and replacement products in the world.

The new 4,000m2 warehouse which will house all these components is in a prime location close to major logistics operators as well as significant existing customers.

Speaking from the site of the new warehouse that begins operations in June of this year and will have its official launch in September 2011, Klarius Group International Business Development Director Paul Hannah has great faith in the Spanish market and its people,

"The board decided soon after we purchased the QH business in February last year that we would invest in the Spanish manufacturing and distribution platform to significantly enhance service levels and generate a much more competitive and professional distribution business in Southern Europe. We already have a strong distribution base in the UK, Germany and France, and operate several large manufacturing plants in the UK and Germany. Spain will now be the hub of our distribution business for the entire Iberian peninsula, as well as a major manufacturing centre, supplying not just mainland Spain, but Portugal, Andorra and the Canary and Balearic Islands."

In addition to employing new staff and investing in new warehousing equipment, Klarius expects to improve the competitiveness of many domestic Spanish aftermarket businesses, Mr. Hannah continues,

"We have a very strong philosophy where we seek to find new and innovative ways to support our customers; reducing overheads, improving business systems and improving availability, as well as guaranteeing quality. Some of our components carry a guarantee far beyond that of a component supplied by a vehicle manufacturer, for example our clutches have a lifetime guarantee that can stay with the car throughout its life, this is something not offered by any other manufacturer."

"At the end of the sales chain it is the motorist that will benefit, they are the ultimate customer and our quality, range and availability mean that over 96% of the cars on the road today can be repaired faster and with higher quality components as a result of our investment."

The new Spanish distribution centre joins a network of over 5,600 delivery points in more than 136 countries, supplying over 80,000 parts every day. The Klarius Group is the only manufacturer able to offer such a comprehensive range of parts, and with current increases in the price of new vehicles and a strong focus on environmental considerations, believes controlling personal costs and keeping vehicles on the road and in good working order will sustain a strong replacement automotive parts market for the foreseeable future.
