Isuzu launches D-Max BEV electric pick-up

Published to the CV Show website on

Isuzu Motors has launched its first battery electric vehicle, the D-Max BEV pick-up developed to meet a wide range of commercial and passenger vehicle needs.

The pick-up has a one-tonne payload, 3.5-tonne towing capacity and a full-time 4WD system with newly developed e-Axles in the front and rear, meaning it’s suited to rough terrain while minimising noise and vibration.

It also features a lithium-ion battery capacity of 66.9kWh and a maximum output of 130kW.

Maximum speed is more than 81mph, making it suitable for a variety of applications from urban commuting to off-road adventures.

Isuzu plans to launch the D-Max BEV in a handful of mainland European markets in 2025, with further expansion to the UK, Australia, Thailand, and other countries based on market demand and the development of EV charging infrastructure.

The prototype will be exhibited at the 45th Bangkok International Motor Show from the 27 March to the 7 April.

A statement from Isuzu Motors International Operations Thailand (IMIT) said: “The Isuzu D-Max BEV represents a new chapter in our commitment to sustainable mobility.

“With its innovative electric powertrain and rugged design, it demonstrates our dedication to providing customers with reliable and environmentally friendly transportation solutions.”

Alan Able, Managing Director of Isuzu UK, said: “The Isuzu D-Max BEV represents a new era for pick-up trucks, combining the legendary toughness of the D-Max with electric technology.

“We are proud to work with a manufacturer committed to creating a carbon-neutral future and announce this innovative vehicle to the UK market, providing our customers with an environmentally friendly option without compromising on performance or reliability.”
