Ford announces new Transit Custom

29 November 2017

Ford has announced a brand-new version of its Transit Custom, the top-selling van in its segment since 2015.

A 2.0-litre EcoBlue diesel engine is available in 105PS, 130PS and 170PS forms with fuel efficiency improved by up to 13 percent and low-end torque increased by 20 percent. An ECOnetic version designed for maximum efficiency offers official emissions of 148g/km of CO2 and combined fuel consumption of 49.6mpg. From 2019, the Transit Custom will also be available in PHEV form, using Ford’s acclaimed 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine as a range extender to give a zero emission range of over 30 miles. Trials of the Transit Custom PHEV are taking place in London this year with fleet customers.

The Transit Custom is available in a number of designs with a choice of two roof heights, two wheelbase lengths, a gross vehicle mass range from 2.6 tonnes to 3.4 tonnes, with payloads up to 1450kg – as well as several body styles including van, kombi and double cab. It also offers an intelligent use of loadspace with a load-through hatch in the bulkhead and a roof rack that can be folded away when not in use.

The Transit Custom’s exterior benefits from a fresh design, including the availability of LED daytime running lights and Xenon headlamps, while inside the cabin can be specified with Ford’s sophisticated SYNC3 infotainment system and has many storage areas to suit busy users. The Transit Custom also boasts the latest Ford safety systems with features such as a Blind Spot Information System with Cross Traffic Alert available and an enhanced version of the Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection, providing a major boost to safety
