All-new Vauxhall Vivaro makes global debut at CV Show 2019

The all-new Vauxhall Vivaro will have its world premiere at CV Show 2019, with the new British-built van now available to order in time for first deliveries this summer.

Vauxhall’s new mid-sized van will go into production at the company’s Luton plant shortly, and will be available in two lengths, three body styles and three trim levels. Pricing starts at £21,240 plus VAT.

As well as being an all-new vehicle, the latest Vivaro also represents a new chapter for Vauxhall’s Luton manufacturing plant and its 1,250 employees. More than two million Vivaro-type vans have been built at Luton since production started in 2001, and investment from Vauxhall’s new owners Groupe PSA will help increase the plant’s production capacity to 100,000 units per year.

For the first time, Vivaro will be available with dual sliding doors, both driver and passenger airbags, and cruise control with a speed limiter function.

The new Vivaro has a maximum payload of up to 1,400kg, which is 200kg more than the previous model, and a maximum towing weight of 2,500 kg, which is an increase of 500kg.

“As a British brand since 1903 and the UK’s largest commercial vehicle manufacturer, we’re delighted to reveal the all-new Luton-built Vivaro,” said Derek Wilson, Vauxhall’s LCV Director.

“Practical, comfortable, economical and packed with all latest driver assistance and connectivity technology, the all-new Vivaro is the vehicle that sits at the heart of our commercial vehicle range.”

Vauxhall has also announced an all-electric version of the new Vivaro will debut next year, so we look forward to seeing that model at CV Show 2020.

Giti races into CV Show 2019

Giti Tire will undoubtedly have one of the most popular stands at CV Show 2019, with a race-prepared Volvo NL truck taking centre stage alongside the latest Giti trailer tyres.

Following four years of design and thorough testing across diverse fleet types, the new Giti GTR955 Combi Road makes its first appearance at CV Show 2019, with the promise of a mileage increase of around 30% against previous comparable products.

Available in 385/65R22.5 164K and 385/55R22.5 160K sizes, the new GTR955 Combi Road also offers rolling resistance improved by approximately 10% and better wet braking, both of which result in B labelling. Both sizes are three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) marked to indicate excellent winter and all-season traction and braking properties.

The new GTR955 Combi Road is one of more than 20 different tyres to be displayed on the Giti stand (4F55), which will be split into seven core areas comprising combi-road, long haul, regional, mixed service, urban, winter and competition.

Meanwhile, racing fans will be clamouring to see the Giti-sponsored Team Oliver Racing Volvo NL racing truck.

The partnership between Giti Tire and Team Oliver Racing saw two units competing in the British Truck Racing Championship last year, while Giti Tire began supply of its global competition truck tyre, the Giti Race-Tuned v1.

Supported by bespoke customer tailored and integrated business focused aftersales products, MAN Trucks and Vans set benchmark for the highest levels of efficiency, reliability and cost-effectiveness.

Thomas Hemmerich, Managing Director, MAN Truck & Bus UK Ltd said: “The UK CV Show is an important event in our calendar and as a leading Commercial Vehicle manufacturer it’s a show that we have always felt important to both attend and support.

“The attraction of the CV Show for MAN is not the volume of visitors, but the quality of the visitors. It offers us great networking opportunities and allows us to both meet with existing customers whilst at the same time greet and build relationships with new customers.”

Customer interaction is a key area for MAN and as a clear demonstration of customer, vehicle and product support, MAN in-house experts covering all business areas will man the stand (5D10 in Hall 5) over the three days, offering visitors support, advice and product updates.

“Our experience of the CV Show has always been incredibly positive,” said Hemmerich, “Last year’s show witnessed the launch of the TGE Vans to Go body package solutions and over the last 12 months we’ve seen TGEs in differing configurations win favour with companies both big and small throughout the UK.

“Our trucks, from the 7.5-tonne TGL to the TGX at 250 tonnes, are renowned and recognised within the industry for offering robust, trustworthy and efficient transport solution partners.”

New vans from industry giants

Some of the industry’s biggest players will have some important new vans on display at CV Show 2019.

All-new Vauxhall Vivaro
The centrepiece of Vauxhall’s stand will be the world premiere of its all-new British-built Vivaro van and Vivaro Life passenger model, which have cemented the future of the company’s Luton assembly plant for the next decade.

Replacing the previous model that has served since 2011, the new Vivaro shares its platform with PSA sister brands Peugeot and Citroën. It will be available in two different lengths and three trim levels, with five engine options.

The new Vivaro and Vivaro Life will be available to order at the show, with the first models set to arrive in Vauxhall showrooms over summer. An electric model is expected to follow in 2020.

Joining the new Vivaro on the Vauxhall stand will be the award-winning new Combo and Combo Life models. Winner of the 2019 International Van of the Year award, the new Combo has been on sale for six months now and has already enjoyed great sales success.

Volkswagen electrifies its home
Meanwhile, Volkswagen is bringing all-electric versions of its three van models – the e-Caddy, e-Transporter and e-Crafter ¬– as part of a 14-vehicle stand that will also include a number of customer vehicles and conversions.

Also featured will be a wheelchair-accessible Caddy Life, an Amarok Aventura 2 pick-up and a Crafter CR50 17-seat minibus conversion.

This will be the largest display Volkswagen has staged since its return to the show four years ago. Once again, Volkswagen will bring its ‘home’ concept to the show, where visitors can sit and discuss their needs with brand specialists over a cup of coffee.

LDV plans to spring a surprise
With the enormous amount of interest in electric vans for urban delivery, another brand eyeing up big growth is LDV.

While details are still under wraps, we can reveal that LDV will have an all-new van (a little brother to the existing EV80 large electric van) to launch at CV Show 2019.

The new van will be the first model launched by LDV that will be specifically designed and manufactured as a pure-electric van tailored for the UK market.

Mark Barrett, general manager of LDV U.K. & Ireland, is looking forward to what the brand will offer eco-conscious businesses in the future: “Investing in a fleet of EVs will cut down long-term operational costs and there has never been a better time to make the change to emission-free fleets.

“Electric powered vehicles will soon be the norm and this is reflected by the number of brands, both in the domestic and commercial market, that are moving their focus from fuel dependent engines to hybrids and pure-electric models.

“LDV is ahead of many in terms of its offerings and it latest launch will only serve to strengthen its position as a leading brand in the electric commercial vehicle sector.”
