Merseytravel and Stagecoach will try running buses on bio-fuel supplied by Convert2Green, as part of their commitment to the European Biofuel Networks In The Community scheme.  The Bionic project promotes the production and use of sustainably produced bio-fuels.  Merseytravel will fund refuelling infrastructure so that some of the Stagecoach fleet run on B30 bio-diesel from Convert2Green.  All three firms are members of the Merseytravel- run North West Biofuels Network.  B30 includes 30% bio-diesel from waste vegetable oil, to cut CO2 emissions by up to 25% compared to standard diesel.  Merseytravel will monitor reliability and fuel use and publish the results.
