Punctures are an inconvenience for any Fleet Manager. There are multiple significant costs involved that can have a large financial impact on any fleet operation. The repair cost of a puncture is minimal when compared to the other associated factors such as downtime, call-out, and cost of a new tyre.
Air-Seal Products tyre sealants are a major solution to tyre management and have been proven to reduce operating and tyre replacement costs. They can prevent up to 95% of tread area punctures up to the legal maximum of 12mm, providing a road-legal repair for the life of the tyre. These tyre sealants will also stop rim, bead, and other slow air leaks which will maintain optimum tyre pressure leading to increased fuel efficiency up to 3%, and increased tyre life of up to a staggering 20%. This reduces downtime, the cost of a user’s operation, and carbon emissions.
The product works by spreading evenly over the inside surface of the tyre as it rotates. When a penetration occurs, the air-loss immediately forces a combination of the strongest aramid fibres and fillers to inter-lock and form a seal, preventing any further air-loss. The driver may not even realise a puncture has occurred until they later inspect the tyre.
These premier tyre sealants are used worldwide by major companies for their vehicle fleets on and off-road. Smith’s (Gloucester) Limited have been using Air-Seal Products tyre sealant for over 15 years. Their figures showed that “monthly repair costs on the treated tyres over an initial nine-month trial were reduced by almost two-thirds from £3,500 to £1,200, a saving of £20,700, just during the trial.” Air-Seal Products also remains the sole supplier of The Royal Mail Group Ltd and product is installed into the fleet of 52,000 vans nationwide.
